The Blame Game: She did it! And God.

My husband has a tendency to blame me for just about anything. Has his coat mysteriously disappeared? Then I must have hung it somewhere. Can’t find his glass? I must have put it in the diswasher. Whatever is going wrong or getting lost, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes my fault.

Adam set the tone

I always console myself with the thought that centuries ago the first man on earth, Adam, set the tone when he blamed Eve for hís transgression. But what I didn’t know was that Adam managed to blame God too, in one swell swoop! Look at what he replied, when God asked him if he had eaten from the forbidden fruit.

Adam: ‘The woman you put here with me —she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.’

Even Dr. Phil, who always preaches you ‘gotta own the problem’ would have had trouble with Adam!

Does your husband suffer from the male tendency of wife blaming too?

  1. haha, i don’t have a husband but when i did have a husband this happened all. the. time. now it’s me and my three boys and still happens! i have figured out this happens so that you will automatically go “what? what are you talking about?! it’s right here…” then they never, EVER have to look for anything. i think looking for things is a much bigger part of my life than sleep ; ) oy vey!

  2. Oh my gosh, yes! I can’t keep up either. They also need help with every little small task, when I seem to do a million of them by myself every day, and wouldn’t even think to ask for assistance. There’s something about the fridge too. Always a crisis when that door opens!;)

  3. Oh yeah, I am with you on this one. If there is something wrong with the car, I don’t drive it the right way. If there is something wrong with the TV I pushed something. Totally nailed this post!

  4. I guess that’s pretty much the nature of husbands–they can’t own their mess so they point it on the wife! :) Just pray for more patience and understanding.
Visiting you from the SITS Saturday Sharefest. Have a great week ahead! :)

  5. Wow, reading this post and all the comments has made me feel a lot better because I thought my husband was the only one who did this! Today he couldn’t find my son’s water bottle and implied that I had left it somewhere. I found it–in the DISH DRAINER. WHERE IT BELONGS when it’s not being used! This drove me crazy in the first years of my marriage and I am just now trying to have a more positive–or at least neutral–attitude about it.
