The character of the Mom

Even though I've been a mom for sixteen years now, I still fear the day someone comes up to me and exposes me as a fraud.

I often feel like an actress in a very bad B-movie. The kind that doesn't even make it to the movie theatre, but is released onto dvd immediately. Half the time I don't have a clou what my lines are. It's not like I néver do the part justice. There are times when I knów I'm shining in my role as a mom. When the kids are sick for example, and I feel all tender and loving towards them.

Right now I'm studying my script for the next years, called 'Mom of teenagers'. To prepare myself I'm repeating lines like: 'You used to be so sweet,' and 'Your room looks like a pigsty! Clean up your room!'

Carefully I'm memorizing the most important one: 'Do you think I'm running a hotel?!'
I'm striving for an Oscar winning performance!

  1. I think this post is great! There are days that I wake up and wonder when I became a mom of 3! I feel like I am still so young (I am 30 though) and should have maybe 1, but somehow I am trusted with 3!! I hope I am doing a good job, but some days I am just not sure!

  4. I have two words for you--STUNT DOUBLE.

I don't even want to think about the teenage years. I'm already catching myself using some of those mommy phrases that I always swore I wouldn't say. Oh well.
