The art of thrift store shopping!

Last weekend, for the first time in a long time, I found a treasure in our local thrift shop.

I'd been on the prowl for a new comfy chair for ages, because our comfy chair wasn't so comfy anymore. This was due to the broken spring that kept poking me in the back, much like my hubby's penis when he wants something. This chair cost me 43$, and is very simlar to the one it has replaced.

What I love most about this chair is the fact that it doesn't need any plaids to cover up mysterious stains and broken springs. I like plaids, but it is almost impossible to keep them neat. As soon as someone sits down, they go all messy.

The art of thrift store shopping

  1. I love thrift store shopping, but out of the fifty times I visit a thrift store, there are perhaps three times when I actually find treasures. So you have to be patient, and keep an open mind.
  2. I feel Mondays are the best days to visit thrift stores, because lots of people have been cleaning up during the weekend, and brought their stuff to the thrift store on Saturday.
  3. Sometimes when I walk into a thrift store I immediately see: 'Ah, some old lady died!' Then I hurry to the tableware, because that means there may be lovely little coffee cups and floral plates.
  4. Think 'outside the box'. Take for example old crates. They may not look like much, but they make great bookcases, sidetables and kitchen cabinets.
  5. Thrift stores can be a good alternative to garage sales. I'm not much of a crowd person, so I often prefer thrift stores because they're not so busy.
