How I finally got my beautiful chandelier!

When we left the city to move to the country my husband and I couldn't agree on lots of things. One of them was what kind of lamps we should get.

I wanted a beautiful chandelier

I wanted beautiful chandeliers. My husband didn't know what he wanted. But one thing he did know: no chandeliers. So in the end we reached a sad compromise and got some boring ceiling lights.

But they didn't do anything for our interior. And I didn't really like them.

So after four years of living with those ceiling lights I asked my husband: 'I would love a beautiful chandelier for my birthday. How about we go shopping, and you can help me choose one.' Four years of country life had mellowed him, and he agreed.

The trick is to know your husband!

When we got there I pointed out the chandelier I wanted. And I saw him shudder. But I had expected that! So I quickly pointed to anóther chandelier. This one in lots of garish bright colours and said: 'I want that one!'

I saw him thinking. Suddenly my first pick didn't seem so bad!

So now I've finally got my beautiful chandelier! It looks great in our living room!

Do you and your husband agree on things?

  2. I just had to read this post because I LOVE chandeliers, I drool over them. I have had a couple, not too over the top, but they look so beautiful. I am now in a rented apartment so no chandeliers. But that is OK, I just thrilled that you love them and you now have one. Thanks for your contribution to the Blog Booster Party and I look forward to seeing you at the new Bloggers Pit Stop on Friday.
